Eunmi paints bright, bold acrylic images of kayaks, trees, birds, animals, and landscapes. Lately Eunmi has been mounting prints of her work on wood as an affordable option to originals.
I describe myself as a contemporary impressionist and expressionist painter. My desire is to create paintings which bring energy to the canvas. My use of color, form, and texture is intuitive. My hope is that the viewer connects emotionally with the painting in their own way. The result I strive for is a painting from the heart. I was born in South Korea, where I graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from Hong-Ik University in Seoul, majoring in ceramics and fine arts.
I furthered my art education abroad at the University of Sydney, Australia, and Tsukuba, Japan for graduate studies. My life would ultimately bring me to Whistler in 1996 where my Canadian journey commenced. My husband and I operated a small business in the years that followed. In 2004 we moved to Nanaimo on Vancouver Island where I focused on my art, I became an active member of the Federation of Canadian Artists in 2008, and was juried into the organizations signature status (Associate Member of Federation of Canadian Artists, AFCA ) in 2015. I am also an elected member of Society of Canadian Artists.
I currently live in Sooke, BC and work primarily in oils and acrylics.
