Krista Ewert Protection Island, BC
Krista makes everything imaginable out of clay. Mugs, broken and mended hearts, heart garlands, jellyfish, urchins, imaginary creatures, and more.
Krista May was born and raised in British Columbia with a passion for working with clay. Once completing her Bachelors of Fine Arts at Emily Carr, she moved to Protection Island surrounded by the ocean that inspires her work.
While teaching at Creative Escape Art Studio, she continues developing her art and also mentoring others in her island studio. One can see in both her sculptures and functional pieces that she has a keen awareness of sea life and nature through honouring its many textures and patterns.
Most times, there is no direct representation of these forms, since she views the natural world through a microscopic lens.
